As a long-time member of our community, we believe in being a good neighbor by participating in charitable events and sponsorships, including:

Winter Wonderland

Winter Wonderland

Recognized throughout the Pacific Northwest as the “Largest Holiday Light Show West of the Mississippi,” over one million spectators have taken the Winter Wonderland journey since its origin, helping to contribute over $286,000 and 24.5 tons of food to local charities.

As one of the Winter Wonderland Charities, Albina Fuel's "Heat A Family" Fund provides heating oil to low income families. A portion of each Winter Wonderland admission goes to the charity.

If you'd like to know more about the "Heat A Family" Fund, please contact us.

Mobile Health Screening Unit

Mobile Health Screening Unit

The Oregon Lions Sight & Hearing Foundation has a 45-year-old tradition of serving men, women and children throughout Oregon. OLSHF is the non-profit arm of the 188 Lions Clubs of Oregon and provides service in every county in the state.

In the early 1990s the Lions of Oregon noticed that there was a lack of preventative health care in many areas of the state. They wanted to find a convenient and inexpensive way to provide health screenings to those that needed it. Looking to the mission of the OLSHF, the dream of a Mobile Health Screening Unit was realized in 1994.

Each MSU is a semi-truck that has been set up like a small clinic. Professional consultants and other Lions Foundations have contributed to the design of the program. Each unit provides school and public screenings throughout the year. These screenings are free to those being screened. Most of the charges for these services are covered by the OLSHF and the local Lions club.

A long-time supporter of the Hollywood Lions Club, Albina Fuel is very pleased to be a sponsor of fuel for the Mobile Health Screening Units.

Spelling Bee

Regional Spelling Bee, Portland, Oregon

The Portland Tribune/Comcast Regional Spelling Bee is limited to sixth, seventh and eighth grade students in Portland (Multnomah county) public, private, alternative and home schools.

Participating Portland middle schools conducted their own school spelling bees, then advanced one student per school to the Portland Tribune/Comcast Regional Spelling Bee. The winner of the regional spelling bee, eighth-grader Kay Sackinger, was then flown with a chaperone, all expenses paid, to Washington, D.C. to compete in the Scripps Howard National Spelling Bee, which took place June 1 - 3, 2004.

Albina Fuel was proud to be a Gold Sponsor for this event which helps encourage our children to become better communicators.
